After studies at Dawson College and Concordia University, Wright completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree at the University of Calgary. She has been called a painter's painter by some of her peers and has earned prizes from a number of juried exhibitions. For the past few years she has taken part in the Artists in their Environment Studio Tour, an award-winning cultural event that takes place in the Outaouais every fall. She has taught art classes, managed an artist-run gallery and is a founding member of Galerie Old Chelsea.

In 1997 Wright's artwork was promoted by a member of "Team Canada" on Canada's trade mission to Asia-Pacific. She was featured on CTV's Show Regional Contact in 2000. The artist has participated in the Elmwood School Art and Home Show leading to a purchase selection for the school's collection. Her work has been selected for the Causeway Foundation's Christmas card campaign - an organisation dedicated to integrating those with emotional difficulties.
